Dirty pants and baseball go hand-in-hand. Some kids wasted no time looking like a true ball player last week Friday during the Ripon Youth Baseball & Softball program’s Diamond Day celebration at Murray Park.

The event kicks off the summer sports season each year.

As always, teams were announced for each level of play from T-ball on up, and players ran the bases as their squads were announced.

Ripon High School softball player Emily Kasuboski and Ripon High School baseball player Hunter Auchtung threw out the first pitches.

Auchtung also led the next generation of players in a pledge to always play their hardest and be respectful to others, while Molly Carlson led the parents and adults in a pledge to cheer on their kids in a respectful and responsible way, while respecting the umpires and others.

Chris Baird of Baird Chevrolet also presented a $500 check.
