It comes from Ripon College Professor McKenzie Lamb, who recently offered a talk titled “Using Mathematics to Analyze Board Games” based on his recent sabbatical research.

“The goal is to bankrupt your opponent, to go around the board buying up properties … It’s a very popular game but people are always complaining it’s too long to play,” he said. “That was the initial motivation for my project: How do you get it to go faster?” ...
