I would like to publicly thank Rick Kelm at Ripon High School for inviting me to speak to his U.S. history class about my participation in the 1965 Selma-to-Montgomery voting rights march ... [and] for the opportunity to listen to the students speak about their concerns and interest in pursuing economic and social justice.

Their questions and comments were intelligent and deeply felt, and I came away inspired and hopeful about the future of our great country.
