     ... IT LOOKS like any other parking lot.

     But for long-time Green Lake residents? The lot off Walker Avenue, wedged between the Catholic and Lutheran church (and school) properties, isn’t vacant — it’s full of memories ...

     Back when a building still stood there, that’s where some kids would score free watermelon.

     Or, others recalled it as the “scary” place that ate baseballs.

     It even was a dreaded home of catechism classes that stole warm, summer days and replaced them with dreary class work.

     It seems every long-timer has a story (and a laugh) about the large, white building off Walker Avenue.

     But what was it?

     Factually, it was a pickle factory with a unique heritage. But anecdotally? It was so much more. ...
