TO THE EDITOR:

(Re: “Time for Ripon to host another party,” July 4, 2019) Tim Lyke, there are a lot of people frustrated with politics. I know I have been for a long time.

Bravo for sharing your most recent frustrations and revelation that we need a third party, but now what: What are you going to do about it?

Are you willing to run for office as an independent? Are you going to actively work to establish a third party? Or are you going to continue to tell yourself that you can’t do anything including some very simple things like writing to your representative, signing petitions, or endorsing candidates that share your vision and values because you are a journalist?

I couldn’t agree more that a strong third party would be a positive step forward for our country; it’s also a great talking point for people that like to criticize our current politics but aren’t willing to do the hard work needed to change it. ...
